De ambiente viejuno, tranquilo y gastado, fuera de horas punta siempre hay sitio en las ventanas que dan a la Plaza del Dos de Mayo o en sus múltiples rincones más oscuros.

Café y bar a la vez, abren pronto, sobre la hora de comer y cierran tarde (a las 2:30 los fines de semana) para café, tarta o copa. De grandes ventanales y con wifi, no es muy grande así que en horas punta suele estar un poco apretado.

Coffee or drinks or both? On the fringe of Chueca's neighbourhood, it's open from around lunch time until late (later at the weekends, 2:30AM). Relaxed and easygoing, its large windows allow for some serious people watching on the street; it offers WiFi but it's not very big so it gets busy at certain times of the day.

Una antigua alpargatería del barrio, este es el sitio perfecto para ese tentempié a media tarde o después de una juerga loca. Abren entre semana hasta las 12, los jueves hasta la 1 y viernes y sábado hasta las 2:30. Pastelería, pizzas, sopas, bocadillos, ensaladas, menú diario semanal... Se puede encargar o pedir un reparto a domicilio. Muffins: 1.50 euro.

Great for afternoon and midnight munchies they close late during the week (12 or 1am) and even later during the weekend (2:30 on Fridays and Saturdays). Grab a bite to nibble on your way home, take out or phone in and get it delivered.

Fundada en 1933, esta pastelería "de toda la vida" es un referente en el barrio para pastelitos, sandwiches, café para tomar y llevar y, por supuesto, el Roscón de Reyes, que hay que encargar con antelación para no llevarse una desilusión. Abren unas horas del 6 de enero para recoger el Roscón. En pastelería, nuestras favoritas son las palmeras glaseadas.

Established in the 70s, it now has other shops around town and even one in Nagasaki! Selling all sorts of pastries and cakes, they specialize in typical Spanish Christmas products like their own Turron recipes and the traditional sweet bread dessert for the day after Twelfth Night, January 6, when you choose your slice and hope you get the hidden prize.
